A Message from the President
March 18, 2015
Dear Colleagues:
As you know, we currently have a national search underway for the position of CIO and will begin a national search for the position of Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV). However, until these positions are permanently filled, we need to move forward with the development and implementation of a significant and extensive number of initiatives, in which information technology and its security will play an important role. To continue the momentum, Dr. Clair Goldsmith, UTB/TSC CIO, has agreed to serve as Interim CISO for UT Brownsville/Texas Southmost College (UTB/TSC), UT Pan American (UTPA) and UTRGV. As Dr. Goldsmith takes on this new role, Dr. Jeffery A. Graham has agreed to expand his service from CIO for UTPA and interim CIO for UTRGV to include interim CIO for UTB/TSC. This separation of duties and reporting structure for the CIO and CISO roles is required by the University of Texas System.
As we continue with the searches for Chief Information Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, we are grateful that both Dr. Goldsmith and Dr. Graham will continue to lead and coordinate our IT and security efforts to ensure a smooth transition to UTRGV.
Please join us in welcoming Dr. Goldsmith as Interim Chief Information Security Officer for UTB/TSC, UTPA and UTRGV.
