A Message from the President
October 23, 2014
Dear Friends,
Please join me in welcoming two new additions to our UTRGV leadership team. Both will begin in their new roles on November 1, 2014.
Dr. Kristin Croyle has accepted the position of Vice President for Student Success at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. As you know, student success is and will be a top priority for UTRGV. Consequently, we need an experienced academic leader with strong administrative skills to take the leadership role as the Vice President for Student Success. Dr. Croyle has played an instrumental role in student success as Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College at UTPA. She is also the Principal Investigator of a multi-million dollar Department of Education grant, which focuses on “Improving Hispanic Student Success through Experiential Learning,” and she has received over $1 million from the THECB for multiple projects, including the development of a comprehensive student success program.
Dr. Janna Arney, who has been serving as Interim Chief of Staff since September 1 and in leadership roles in the Division of Academic Affairs since 2006, has been appointed to the position of Vice President for Operations and Chief of Staff for UTRGV reporting directly to the President. Dr. Arney brings to this position not only many years of leadership and administrative experience, but also a deep understanding of the academic side of the institution. In this expanded role, Dr. Arney will function as the President’s top strategic advisor. She will work closely with the President and his executive team to guide, support and drive the mission of the institution. She will work with the leadership team to identify new areas for growth and improvement on the distributed campuses in accordance with the overall UTRGV strategy. She will work with the campus community to ensure that the broad vision of the executive team is communicated accurately and effectively to the campus community.
In the weeks to come, I expect to announce more hires. I also encourage you to check the job openings at UTRGV Careers.
Thank you again for your continuing support of UTRGV.
President
