Graduate Student Scholarships

The Political Science Department offers five scholarships to students pursuing a political science major or master’s degree. Interested students should submit a general application through the UTRGV Scholarship Applications system. Special conditions apply to the Binder Scholarship, as explained below.

Sister Carol Messina Scholarship 

Requirements: 2.5 GPA, Undergraduate or Graduate students, full time enrollment, preference for female applicants

Joe Binder Scholarship for Students of Politics 

Requirements: 2.5 GPA, Undergraduate or Graduate students, full time enrollment
Applicants for the Binder Scholarship must also submit a 1-3 page essay describing why they want to pursue a degree in political science.

To apply for these scholarships, use the UTRGV Scholarship Applications system. The deadline for applications is February 1 for current students and is December 1 for high school seniors.

This schedule includes a list of graduate courses to be offered each semester until Spring 2026. The graduate courses appear in blue lettering toward the bottom of the column for each semester.

NOTES:
1. This schedule is subject to change based on student demand and future faculty availability.
2. E = Edinburg. B = Brownsville. E/B = offered on both campuses.
3. ONL = Online.
4. OFC = Off-campus (Austin, Washington, DC., or local off-campus Internship).
