Trainings We Offer

The Office of Title IX & Equal Opportunity (OTIXEO) offers training in the following areas. For more information, or to request training for your department or area, please request a training on this website, or contact our office.


Discrimination / Harassment

Discrimination/ Harassment Training is suggested for all students, faculty, and staff at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Group presentations can be made for organizations, departments, or business units on request. This training can be tailored for the individual needs of your organization, department or business unit to address discrimination and/or harassment based on genetic information, veteran’s status, ethnicity, gender/sex, race, religion, retaliation, age, national origin, and/or disability.


Sexual Misconduct / Sexual Assault

Sexual Misconduct/ Sexual Assault Training provides information to increase the awareness of assault, acquaintance assault, and other forcible and non-forcible sex offenses. The training provides real stories, information, statistics, and advice on how to prevent sexual assault and other sex offenses. This training can be tailored for the individual needs of your audience, organization, departments or business units.


Search Committee Training

Search Committee Training provides information to search committee chairs and members on what to do and not to do during the search process. Information on advertising and recruiting diverse candidates is also disseminated during the training. The training is designed to answer questions about the search process.


Other - Special Requests

The Office of Title IX & Equal Opportunity (OTIXEO) can also prepare Title IX trainings and other EEO/ Affirmative Action trainings that are unique to needs of particular audiences for example: athletes, students at orientation, resident assistants, student leaders, University Officials, camps, managers, etc. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs. If the type of training you are seeking is outside of our expertise we would be happy to provide you with a referral to human resources, or another appropriate resource.
