Summer Saxophone Camp

Grades 9 to adults

DATES

June 13 to 24, 2022

OBJECTIVE

Designed for enthusiastic saxophone students, the UTRGV Summer Saxophone Camp is 10 days of intensive study combined with numerous musical opportunities offered at the School of Music on the Edinburg campus. It is open to students starting in the 9th grade as well as adults. Participants will take place in daily sectionals, chamber and large ensemble sessions taught by the UTRGV saxophone faculty and members of the camp staff, allowing each student to receive personalized attention.

HOUSING AND MEALS

Overnight room accommodations will not be available, all camp participants must return home by the end of the day each day of camp. Because this is not a full day camp, meals are not included in the tuition. Participants are encouraged to bring snacks and/or cash to use vending machines located in the School of Music. Arrival and departure of students will take place only during specific posted times. UTRGV will not host students outside scheduled camp dates and posted times.

COST

Tuition for the Saxophone Camp is $25 which includes participation in lessons, classes, masterclasses, social activities, a t-shirt and a camp decal. Tuition can be paid by check/money order made out to UTRGV School of Music.  Saxophone students wishing to participate in band camp during the first week must apply to for the Band and Orchestra Camp. Participation in the Saxophone Camp is included for those students enrolled in Band and Orchestra Camp at no additional cost.

Participants are asked to indicated their preferred instrument (soprano, alto, tenor or baritone saxophone) and if they have access to such instrument (some harmony saxophones may be available for use during the camp).

NOTE: The COVID-19 situation may evolve or change. We will make every effort to create an inspirational experience for all participants. However, circumstances and guidelines may change and the Music Camp will adjust as needed. Alternative plans and schedules may be necessary due to situations beyond our control. Refunds will be offered if the event needs to be cancelled.
