Division of Health Affairs

Welcome to the Division of Health Affairs at UTRGV

This division unites our health-related schools and programs under one vision to advance education, innovation, and patient care in the Rio Grande Valley. By strengthening collaboration among these programs, we aim to provide world-class care, create more hands-on opportunities for future healthcare professionals, and ultimately ensure a healthier future for our community.

A Message from the Executive Vice President

Welcome

The UTRGV Division of Health Affairs is focused on three things: delivering top-tier medical education, expanding access to high-quality care, and driving research that improves health across our communities.

We believe education and clinical care are strongest when aligned—training the next generation of physicians, nurses, researchers, and health leaders, while meeting the evolving needs of the Rio Grande Valley.

Our goal is not only to strengthen and expand our clinical infrastructure, but to build a sustainable system that improves long-term health outcomes and expands opportunity across the region.

By bringing together our schools, colleges, and practice plan, UT Health RGV, we’re creating a model where learning and care delivery reinforce one another, enhancing both the quality of training and the quality of care.

Together, we are shaping the future of health education and care delivery in South Texas and beyond.

Sincerely,

Brian Dean, MBA, MPH
Interim Executive Vice President for Health Affairs
