Admission

Major in Nutritional Sciences 
The Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences (BSNS) is focused on graduating students with exceptional knowledge and skills in nutrition and wellness. The BSNS program is designed to prepare students for nutritional sciences careers and position them to pursue higher education. Nutritionists are specialists in the use of nutrition and food to promote health and prevent disease. Students can also minor in nutritional sciences.   

Major admission requirements 
Admission to the BSNS major is based on successful admission to the university. 

Progression requirements for this program. 
Students must maintain a grade of "C" or above in all the NUTR (nutrition) major courses. 

Graduation requirements  
Meet university bachelor’s degree requirements. Students must receive a minimum grade of "C" or above in all NUTR (nutrition) courses under the major and concentration sections of degree plan. 

 


Minor in Nutrition 
Completing a nutrition minor will complement your major and increase your skill set. This minor will give you a competitive edge in the job market, since nutrition is relevant to many different careers. Some of these may include nursing, pharmacy, medicine, and other healthcare fields.

Minor in nutrition admission requirement
Must be enrolled in a major at UTRGV and in good standing.

Minor progression requirements
Students must maintain a grade of "C" or above in all the minor requirement courses to remain in the program.
