Admission requirements
Admission to the BSNS program is first based on successful admission to the university. In addition, students must apply to the program and be accepted to be eligible for the Nutritional Sciences major. Please fill out the below application and send via email to bsnutritionalsciences@utrgv.edu. Application are accepted on a rolling basis.
BS in Nutritional Sciences Program Application
Progression requirements
Students will have to maintain a grade of "C" or above in all the major requirement courses to remain in the program. The students are also expected to complete the required prerequisites for the courses. They are also expected to co-register in courses as detailed in the syllabus.
Graduation requirements
Completion is based on the students getting a minimum grade of "C" in all NUTR courses.
Minor in Nutrition
The purpose of the Minor in Nutrition option is to allow students who are majoring with other degrees but interested in knowing about nutrition to improve their knowledge on making good food choices.
Mission: The minor in Nutrition supports the mission of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and the College of Health Professions by promoting student access, success, health education and community engagement. It does so by training students in the field of Nutrition, Nutrition and Wellness and Food Management and Technology. Students will graduate with critical thinking skills about nutrition awareness and meet the nutrition/food services needs of a culturally diverse community with disproportionate health disparities.
