Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences

BMED Induction Ceremony 2019

This degree explores the application of powerful modern bioscience approaches such as molecular cell biology, molecular genetics and genomics, as well as anatomy, physiology, and neuroscience to human health. It is a preparatory degree for tomorrow’s health care professionals and leaders and thus prepares students for successful admission to professional schools in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, and physician assistant programs as well as graduate studies in biomedical sciences.

Reminder: BMED Pre-Professional Practice Exams

Dear BMED students,

This is to notify you that the BMED department will offer a Free- Practice,  Online Pre-Professional Exam the  week of May 16 th-20 th ,  2022 (which is the week after finals).

What is a Pre-Professional Exam? An exam that is required for entry/acceptance to most health professional and graduate (masters and doctorate level) programs.

The benefit of taking a Pre-Professional Practice Exam: It establishes a baseline to track and assess your strengths and weaknesses so that you can tailor your studies and preparation for the actual exam.  If approached properly and professionally, it simulates the real testing environment and better prepares you for what to expect on the actual test day.  It’s never too early or late to begin practicing!

Which Pre-Professional Practice-Exams will be offered? There will be five different exams offered including MCAT, GRE, PCAT, DAT, and OAT.

If you’re not too familiar with these tests, please read below:

  • MCAT:  “Medical College Admissions Test” – for those interested in attending medical school
  • GRE:  “Graduate Record Examination” – for those interested in attending physician assistant programs, physical therapy, occupational therapy, Master’s programs, and Doctoral (Ph.D.) programs
  • PCAT:  “Pharmacy College Admission Test” – for those interested in attending pharmacy school
  • DAT:  “Dental Admissions Test” – for those interested in attending dental school
  • OAT:  “Optometry Admissions Test” – for those interested in attending optometry school

As a BMED student, you are  Highly Encouraged to take the exam that suits your career/professional goals.  Sometimes the exam is what deters a student from moving forward with their career/professional goal and we don’t want that to be you!  We want you to know what to expect, be prepared, and become a competitive/successful applicant.

On the plus side, if you’re among the top scorers, you will earn access to additional exam preparation.  Prizes will also be available and raffled to all who register and complete the exam.

Please take advantage of this great opportunity and sign-up for the practice test  via this link:
