The FS Ad Hoc Committee on Compensation will continue efforts of the summer 2021 Task Force to make recommendations that allow for faculty-informed future cycles of merit and equity (to be determined in next budget cycles). UTRGV remains committed to the ongoing work of addressing internal equity issues related to salary inversion, compression, and/or gender equity. This committee will provide a space and mechanism for faculty input and recommendations for future compensation adjustment decisions.
The goals of the summer Task Force were:
- To increase faculty salaries to a target market rate that will position UTRGV faculty salaries within rank and discipline with the salary ranges of comparable institutions.
- To review prior methodologies and processes for reviewing faculty salaries and identify areas for improvement to ensure we establish a market equity model that is data-driven, objective, and transparent.

This taskforce met weekly from May through August to surface issues and inform campus communications. The members of the taskforce included faculty, staff, and students from across campus(es). The group shared issues of concern and aided in fully vetting responses that were then confirmed to be in alignment with other communications going out across campus. These questions and responses were then written and posted on the Commitment FAQ web page as deemed appropriate.
