Semi-Intensive English Program - Professional English
The Semi-Intensive English Program equips English language learners with skills needed to further their education or career advancement. Each level is comprised of 40 hours of instruction in 8-weeks.
PROFESSIONAL ENGLISH
Designed for those with intermediate to advanced English skills. This track enhances your language proficiency for professional environments.

• Schedule: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (5 hours per week)
• Location: Brownsville and Edinburg, TX

Application Process
Process Application Fee
- • $75, non-refundable fee.
Complete Application
- • Application link sent within 1 business day after application fee payment.
- • Complete application within 7 days; $50 late fee applies after.
Complete English Placement Test
- • Test link sent 2 business days after application completion.
- • Must complete within 7 days; results valid for 6 months.
Enroll
- • Pay for session via TouchNet within 7 days of level placement.
- • $50 late fee applies after 7 days.
- • Staff will provide alternatives if the level is unavailable.
Admission Requirements
- Participants must be 18 years or older and have completed high school or equivalent.
- U.S. Citizens or Resident Aliens should bring their birth certificate, resident alien card, or employment authorization letter.
- To apply for an F-1 visa, international students must be Canadian or Mexican citizens and attend an ESL program within 75 miles of the U.S. border.
International Students
- I-20 Eligibility Requirements
- Statement of account with sufficient funds to cover tuition, books, housing, and health insurance.
- Copy of passport (must be valid for at least 6 months).
- If requirements are met, an email with your I-20 form will be sent by one of our Designated School Officials.
- SEVIS I-901 Fee
- The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement require all foreign students to complete an I-901 fee before making an appointment at the U.S. Consulate.
- Please save and print your payment receipt.
- Student Visa
- Complete Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application – Form DS-160.
- Schedule a visa interview appointment.
- Pay the visa application processing fee and any other applicable fees.
- Review country-specific instructions on the U.S. Embassy or Consulate website.
- I-94
- The I-94 permit is a record of entry for foreign nationals who have been admitted to the United States, it includes your entry date, port of entry, and visa status in which you were admitted to the US.
- You can apply for your I-94 permit here. Review information before you start.
- Pay the I-94 fee.
UTRGV English Language Proficiency Waiver
This exemption does not apply to participants who complete the Semi-Intensive English Programs – Foundations or Professional English.
