Under the umbrella of the College of Education and P-16 Initiatives, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Educational Technology Program offers fully online doctoral, master’s and undergraduate courses in educational technology.


MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Educational Technology programs at UTRGV is to prepare highly skilled, future ready educational technology professionals for leadership roles in K-12, higher education, corporate, and military settings across the region, state and nation. Educational Technology graduates will be able to:

◦ Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to create, use, assess, and manage theoretical and practical applications of educational technologies and processes (AECT Standard 1).
◦ Develop as reflective practitioners able to demonstrate effective implementation of educational technologies and processes based on contemporary content and pedagogy (AECT Standard 2).
◦ Facilitate learning by creating, using, evaluating, and managing effective learning environments (AECT Standard 3).
◦ Design, develop, implement, and evaluate technology-rich learning environments within a supportive community of practice (AECT Standard 4).
◦ Explore, evaluate, synthesize, and apply methods of inquiry to enhance learning and improve performance (AECT Standard 5).
