Happy Black History Month!
Dear UTRGV Community,
The first day of each February marks the beginning of Black History Month, a time devoted to honoring the achievements — and understanding the struggles — of African Americans throughout the ages. This year’s theme, set by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, is African Americans and the Arts.
At UTRGV, we stand united with our brothers and sisters at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, dedicated to combating racism and advancing equal opportunities for students of color. After all, Black history is American history. And Black History Month is not just about reflection; it is a celebration of resilence, progress, and triumph.
All UTRGV community members are invited and encouraged to further educate themselves by participating in events happening on campus over the coming weeks. Stay informed by checking the UTRGV Calendar, VLink, and UTRGV Messenger (event details and locations are subject to change).
