Required Courses - 15 Hours

BIOL 6315 Scientific Communications
Or
CHEM 6301 Scientific Communications
BIOL 6312 Cellular and Molecular Biology
BIOL 6316 Molecular Genetics
CHEM 6305 Advanced Biochemistry
CHEM 6382 Advanced Protein Biochemistry

Non-Thesis Option:

Prescribed Electives - 12 Hours

BIOL and CHEM Electives - 9 Hours

Any BIOL and CHEM 5000 or 6000 level courses.

Non-thesis students are not permitted to take BIOL 6185, CHEM 6185, BIOL 6285, CHEM 6285, BIOL 6385, CHEM 6385, BIOL 6485, CHEM 6485, BIOL 6585, CHEM 6585, BIOL 6685 and CHEM 6685.

Related Field Electives - 3 Hours

Any 5000 or 6000 level BIOL, BMEE, CHEM, CIVE, EEMS, MANE, MECE, MATH, and PHYS.

It is recommended to consult with the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Graduate Program Coordinator prior to registering for a course.

Capstone Requirement - 3 Hours

CHEM 6370 Advanced Chemical Education

 

Written Comprehensive Exam

Students on the non-thesis option must pass a comprehensive examination in their final semester of the program.

 

Thesis Option:

Prescribed Electives - 9 Hours

BIOL and CHEM Electives - 6 Hours

Any BIOL and CHEM 5000 or 6000 level courses.

A maximum of 6 hours may be completed through a combination of BIOL 6185, CHEM 6185, BIOL 6285, CHEM 6285, BIOL 6385, CHEM 6385, BIOL 6485, CHEM 6485, BIOL 6585, CHEM 6585, BIOL 6685 and CHEM 6685.

Related Field Electives - 3 Hours

Any 5000 or 6000 level course in BIOL, BMEE, CHEM, CIVE, EEMS, MANE, MECE, MATH, and PHYS.
