Research

The Lab of Avian Ecology is committed to understanding how birds survive and thrive in their natural environments.  We use empirical, experimental and phylogenetic comparative approaches to understanding behavior in free-ranging birds.  Most work has focused on Neotropical birds, which are disproportionately threatened among the world’s birds.  Given their diversity and many endemic lineages, the Neotropics harbors tremendous untapped potential and urgent need to expand our understanding of behavioral biology.
