Services

Who do we serve?

The UTRGV Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) is designed to provide entrepreneurial development services to service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and family members interested in starting or growing a small business.

Pre-Business Plan Workshops:

VBOCs conduct entrepreneurial development workshops dealing specifically with the major issues of self-employment. An important segment of these workshops entails the usage of the Internet as a tool for developing and expanding businesses. Each client is afforded the opportunity to work directly with a business counselor.

Business Concept & Feasibility Review:

VBOC advisors provide structured business feasibility reviews informed by industry research tools and market benchmarking data. Clients are guided through evaluation of market demand, operational readiness, financial sustainability, and risk factors to support informed decision-making prior to launch.

Business Plan Development Support:

VBOC advisors guide clients through development of business plans, including legal structure considerations, market analysis, operational planning, and financial projections. Assistance is designed to support sound business strategy and potential capital readiness.

Market & Industry Research Guidance:

Using industry research tools and publicly available data sources, VBOC advisors assist clients in understanding market conditions, industry trends, competition, and key success factors.

Financial Readiness & Projection Guidance:

Advisors provide guidance in estimating startup costs, developing financial projections, calculating break-even points, and reviewing financial sustainability assumptions.

Capital Access Preparation & Referral

VBOC advisors assist clients in preparing for capital access by reviewing financial readiness, documentation requirements, and loan packaging considerations, and by referring clients to appropriate lending partners and SBA resource partners.

One-on-One Counseling & Entrepreneurial Training

VBOC provides indivisualized business counseling and entrepreneurial training designed to support transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard, Reserve members, and military spouses.
