UTRGV’s Office of Workforce and Economic Development (OWED), a Division of Governmental and Community Relations, serves as the region’s economic portal, aligning UTRGV’s diverse resource and knowledge base to foster economic development opportunities, cultivate small businesses, and create workforce development programs for sustainable job opportunities and a robust, resilient RGV economy.
Aligning with UTRGV’s mission to create individual, social, and cultural transformation in the Rio Grande Valley, OWED administers a comprehensive portfolio of centers and programs aimed at shaping the Valley’s economic development and advancing new models of bidirectional community-university engagement.
Located region-wide through a robust network of Rio Grande Valley cities, economic development corporations, and other strategic stakeholders, our programs and services are highly accessible and offers advising, technical assistance, and specialized training.
