Welcome to the Trauma and Anxiety Disorders Lab!
This lab primarily focuses on cognitive-behavioral approaches to trauma and anxiety disorders. We investigate traumatic events such as interpersonal traumas and childhood traumas and their consequences in adulthood including posttraumatic stress symptoms, anxiety, depression, substance use, and sleep. We also examine how individuals exposed to trauma cope with their trauma-related symptoms and what psychosocial and cognitive factors affect outcomes of traumatic experiences. In addition, we develop and examine the efficacity of brief technology based self-help interventions for trauma and anxiety disorders, which can meet the needs of underserved individuals with trauma and anxiety symptoms.
Current Projects
Our ongoing projects delve into critical areas related to mental health and well-being. We focus on two key aspects: Online Expressive Writing (EW) Interventions for PTSD and the role of psychosocial, emotional, and cognitive variables in posttraumatic stress symptoms and anxiety. Through rigorous investigation, we aim to uncover effective interventions, understand underlying mechanisms, and contribute to the broader field of mental health research.
