Nuestra Voz / Our Voice
Our project proposed a pilot survey – RGV Our Voice/Nuestra Voz Survey -- designed to: (1) capture attitudes and opinions of Rio Grande Valley residents on key international, national, state and local issues, and (2) inform policy at the state and regional levels. This project aligned with the Transforming our World Strategic Plan in: sharing research infrastructure; producing research informing the RGV community and beyond; providing research experiences to students (student success); and involving key stakeholders in the research process (community engagement). The RGV OVNV survey addressed existing gaps in the literature about Hispanic attitudes by examining these attitudes in a majority context thus contributing to a broader understanding of Hispanic political and social attitudes on a range of policies and issues of national as well as local concern. This survey provided a platform for academic research, student engagement, and community discourse on topics affecting the RGV.
