Bridging Musing and Dance with Digital Art: Bringing Live Art to Rio Grande Valley
Description
The focus of our project is to combine different genres within the fine arts to create innovative and unique artworks that have the ability to be presented in multiple venues across all three disciplines of music, art, and dance. The genesis of this project was borne out of a recently completed commercial solo tuba album recorded by Scott Roeder. One of the pieces on the album, Three Visions of El Greco, is a multi-movement concerto based off of three different paintings from the Spanish Renaissance painter Doménikos Theotokópoulos, better known as El Greco. The composer, Ethan Wickman, takes inspiration from the famous paintings (The View of Toledo, The Adoration of Shepherds, and the Burial of the Count of Orgaz) to create his music composition and incorporates elements from the Spanish artform, Flamenco. Wickman already has combined these various artforms through his composition. Our intent is to take these combinations to the next level with new art that will transform all three components into new works.
