Description
This project seeks to empower ENGL1301 and 1302 students’ academic self-concept by increasing their awareness of their academic abilities, their confidence and sense of belonging in the academic environment, and their social agency which refers to the desire a student has to change society through community engagement (Cuellar, 2015) through offering sustained mentorship opportunities after they complete the freshman writing program and by implementing a campus-wide event where students are able to communicate the results of their work to a public audience.
