Application Process

Those interested in applying may submit through the Texas Medical and Dental Student Application Service (TMDSAS). Applications open on May 1st at 8 AM central time. Detailed information on the application process may be found on the TMDSAS website www.TMDSAS.com. Each applicant will be required to complete a short Supplemental Application.

The UTRGV School of Medicine conducts criminal background and other reference checks on candidates selected for admission. This process may include online research, especially a review of social media. It is highly recommended that you conduct a thorough review of you social media account(s) early in the application process. For questions please contact us at mdadmissions@utrgv.edu.

  • Completed application checklist

    The UTRGV SOM Office of Admissions only reviews completed applications. The following are the requirements for a complete application:

    • TMDSAS application and fee paid
    • UTRGV SOM secondary application and fee paid for selected applicants
    • MCAT score(s)
    • Official transcripts when accepted
    • Letters of recommendation

    (Prerequisite courses should be mostly complete upon application, however, some courses may be in progress or planned. These courses must be completed prior to matriculation.)
