How Do I Apply?
ScaleUp Rio Grande Valley services, valued at $5000, is available for free to eligible participants. To apply to be a part of this program, please read the following carefully.
The Application Process
To determine eligibility to participate in the ScaleUp Rio Grande Valley program, interested individuals must complete and submit an online application for consideration. Applications may also be picked up at the following location: UTRGV CESS Bldg, 1407 E. Freddy Gonzalez Dr., Suite 1.200, Edinburg, TX. The Selection Process
You will be notified that your application has been received and reviewed.
Eligible businesses will be contacted for an in-person interview. The purpose of this interview is to discuss and assess:
- Your business goals for participation in the program,
- Your potential for business growth, and
- Your personal commitment to fully engage in the program.
As part of this evaluation, you will be asked to provide business financial statements, your business plan, and any other pertinent information. Any and all proprietary information provided will be kept strictly confidential.
Selection and denial for participation will be made after the interview process and the applicant notified of this determination. Individuals denied participation may be referred to other program for business development assistance.
Non-eligible businesses that do not meet the program criteria will receive a notice of this determination and referred to another program for business development assistance within our network.
The Acceptance Process
Upon selection to the ScaleUp Rio Grande Valley program, participants will receive an orientation to the program and a training schedule for the upcoming cohort. In addition to outlining expectations, the orientation session normally allows for participants to meet the program facilitator(s) and fellow participants.
The Commitment
The selected participant is expected to sign a Participant Engagement Agreement acknowledging the commitment required for program participation, including:
- Participation in 30-hour Kauffman FastTrac® GrowthVenture™ course with ongoing, business advisement support (*Attendance is mandatory. Exceptions may be made for extraordinary circumstances and with pre-approval for any missed class. Makeup classes will be required.)
- Participation in an estimated two-hour, business assessment resulting in creation of growth goals
- Provision of financial statements, tax returns, strategic plan, and other business documents as requested
- Participation in recommended business advisement and or training as provided by program and or resource partners
