Trainings

As a part of our mission we offer trainings throughout the semester that are open to everyone -UTRGV faculty, staff, students, and the Rio Grande Valley community members.

If you would like to register for those trainings, please email us at recovery@utrgv.edu.

Recovery Ally Training

The UTRGV Center for Students in Recovery Collegiate Recovery Program is excited to offer  Recovery Ally Trainings for faculty, staff, and students. Our aim is to foster an environment where students in or seeking recovery feel accepted by their peers, are empowered to live genuinely, feel comfortable asking for help and are celebrated. By becoming a Recovery Ally, you are declaring to students in or seeking recovery that you embody these ideals.

The  Recovery Ally Training is strongly recommended for any faculty or staff member interested in being an ally for the students in or seeking recovery that they engage with. This 3-hour training is led by a CRP staff members and volunteers.

Each training will cover:

  • An overview of addiction and recovery
  • Addiction and recovery on campus
  • Recovery friendly language
  • How to connect students with the CRP and other resources
  • Ways to get involved as a Recovery Ally

For more information or accommodations, give us a call at
956-665-2674 (Edinburg) or  956-882-3897 (Brownsville).
