2-page extended abstract according to the abstract submission guidelines.

NOTES: 

  1. Your completed abstract submission form, together with the completed 2-page abstract, must be received by email to SHS2013@utb.edu by 15 April 2013 for consideration by the Symposium Secretariat.
  2. The International Organizing Committee reserves the right to change the format and the session of every submission
  3. The SHS2013 Symposium topics are the following:
    • SHS of micron, submicron- and nano- materials
    • Nanoenergetic materials and processes
    • Combustion of multilayered nano-structures
    • Biomaterials and coatings
    • Combustion theory and modeling
    • Sintering and consolidation
    • Packing geometry in nano- and micro- scale
    • Space applications
    • Industrialization
  4. The presenting author of all accepted abstracts will be notified by email.
  5. All queries regarding the Symposium or the abstracts must be communicated to the Secretariat (below).

The page size should be 21mm x 29.7mm, with a 2.5 margin all around. The font should be New Times Roman 12 pt for all abstract text, 10 pt for affiliations and 14 pt for title. Line spacing should be 1.5 lines and all paragraphs justified. The 2-page extended abstract should include: Title, Authors' Names (Initial ONLY, followed by last name), Authors' Affiliations, Abstract Text and References. There should be a blank line between each of the 5 parts of the completed abstract. The title should be centered and bold (upper case). The presenting author's name should be underlined. Use superscripted symbols to distinguish authors with different affiliations. Start each affiliation on a new line, starting with the identifying symbol if there are multiple affiliations. The use of one-two figures for describing the main results will be appreciated. 

Indicate references with sequential numbers within [square brackets]. The references should start with the authors' names (initial first), followed by the standard abbreviation for the journal, volume number, starting page number and then the year in parentheses. For a book, the book's title would replace the journal title, followed by the volume, page, and editor's name, finishing with the publisher's name, location, and the year in [brackets].

Guidelines for Oral Presentations and Posters

Oral Presentations:

Standard PC projection equipment will be available for presentation in each room.

  • Keynote talks will be 25 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.
  • Contributed oral talks are to be 15 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions.


Posters:

  • Poster Boards will be provided in the Foyer and in the Conference Rooms. Due to the large number of posters, they should be put up during lunch or afternoon coffee- break of the day of the corresponding Poster Session and be taken down at the end of the session.
  • Poster maximum Size: Size ISO A0 (height about 120 cm x width about 85 cm)
  • Please ensure that the poster is clearly readable from a distance of at least 2 m.
  • Thump-tacks ("drawing pins") to attach the poster will be provided on site.
  • A Student Poster Competition is planned and the results will be announced at the banquet. The winning poster will receive an award! See "Student Matters" for more information.


Student Matters

Students are very welcome and encouraged to participate in the Symposium!

For their benefits we have made the following special arrangements:


  1. Student Poster Competition!: All student posters will be judged (taking into account all aspects of the work including presentation) by the International Organizing Committee and the winning poster will be awarded a special commemorative plaque. The 2 runners-up will also receive prizes. The prizes will be awarded at the Banquet.
  2. Special low Registration Fees: Bona-Fide Students (you need to prove student status using some formal University ID) are entitled to LOW Registration Fees - see the Registration Form for more details.
