APA’s Psychological Science and Immigration Today report has been published including a video documentary of the APA Presidential Task force on Immigration and Health that Dr. Alfonso Mercado chaired! The Council of Representatives at APA also passed a related resolution.

Dr. Mercado will be at APA’s Main Stage in Seattle on August 8th and 9th! He is headlining the Psychological Science on the frontline of the U.S. Immigration Landscape presidential program and Stop the Hate: Psychologists’ Roles in Addressing the Rise in Hate Against Youth-Critical Conversations. Dr. Mercado is appointed as Chair of the Presidential Taskforce on Immigration and Health at the American Psychological Association. This task force has been commissioned by President Dr. Cynthia de las Fuentes to achieve high impact aims. Dr. Mercado is regarded as expert in immigration and mental health and is among the very top scholars in this area in the United States. Congratulations!

Also, Dr. Mercado was an invited speaker for the Idaho Psychological Association and Kansas Psychological Association Annual Conventions, and invited speaker with doctoral student Andy Torres for the Universidad Autonoma de Cuidad Victoria and Universidad de Veracruz in Mexico during the Fall 2021.

For the last three years, Dr. Mercado has also been devoting some of his time to serve as board member of the Texas Psychological Association, and just as this appointment comes to an end, he will begin 2019 with a three-year appointment at the American Psychological Association Committee on Rural Health.
