Our Vision

Memory and Aging Center team gathers outdoors holding flowers, celebrating collaboration and commitment to Alzheimer's research and community health.

Our vision is to create a research-powered, community-engaged initiative that empowers the Rio Grande Valley to take proactive steps against the impacts of dementia.

The Memory & Aging Center was established in October of 2025 to be a focus of brain health and Alzheimer’s research at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. With the help of our Director Dr. Gladys Maestre, we are able to explore cultural, educational, and genetic risks for Alzheimer’s disease and cognitive decline.

Our Mission

We are a multidisciplinary team of passionate clinicians, scientists, staff, and community liaisons dedicated to advancing innovative solutions and culturally informed care that prevent Alzheimer’s and related dementias to facilitate aging in place.
