The Memory & Aging Center is led by Dr. Gladys Maestre and her team of professionals who are motivated to discovering ways to cope with and remediate Alzheimer’s Disease. Our Memory Study consists of RGV participants and their loved ones. It is important to have dedicated community liaisons that advance innovative solutions and informed care.
Alzheimer’s Disease is the most common cause of dementia. It is not a normal part of aging- it’s a progressive brain disease, meaning it gets worse over time. In order to slow down the process of this disease, we must take action to better our lives. This can include managing blood sugar, keeping physically active, staying connected to family, avoiding/limiting alcohol, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
