B2BMED Trainee: Alexa Aleman Being selected for the B2BMED program was an exciting moment for me. I was delighted to learn new things and uncover the questions I, and many others, have. During my early stages in the B2BMED program, I have already noticed myself understanding several things in such a short time frame. For instance, I'm three weeks in, and I could gladly say that I have learned more about probiotics, the importance of measurements, and how to use a micropipette than I had before entering the program. Do I believe this will help me with my future career? My confident answer is "yes," I want to be a Registered Dietician, and while yes, you'd expect me to primarily focus on helping people lose weight, that is not the only thing that goes on within the human body. There is more to people having weight issues and that could be correlated to their gut, hormones, or habits. I want to specialize in helping people heal their guts. The research I am doing with Dr. Sahoo will help me understand probiotics well and with this knowledge, I can progress from there. As expected, it can be challenging to make time for classes and the program sometimes, however, if you love it as much as I do, it won't be much of a problem. I study daily for school, and also practice micro pipetting for the research I am working on with Dr. Sahoo. If research and science, are something you love, I'd say go for it. There are so many opportunities within the program, along with enjoying it as you progress. My advice, make sure you love what you are doing, go for the questions you want to be answered, and have the drive/desire for what you want.

B2BMED Trainee: Mateo Joya Ayala The B2BMED program is an engaging experience and gives a lot of resources that can help you improve your abilities, not only in the biomedical research field but also in your personal and academic life. The professionalism workshops and other seminars give you helpful information and keep you up to date on the new research that is being published. For me, the program gave me an opportunity to explore new possibilities in the lab. It allows me to explore new ideas and ways to do research, and right now, I am working on a completely different project, learning about a new program to manage data and do data analyses.

Growing as a person and as a professional is only one of the many advantages that this program provides us. The skills that I have learned, and the ones to come, will benefit me in my future studies and projects, as well as my day-to-day life as a researcher. I am excited to dive more into the exciting world of research and be able to serve the community with future discoveries.
