Admission Criteria
The MS in Dietetics will be accepting applications on November 1st, 2024, for fall 2025 cohort. Application will open every November 1st and close January 15th for the following cohort year.
All applications will be reviewed holistically to include GPA, volunteer and work experience in nutrition related fields, letter of personal intent, letters of recommendation, and interview.
The maximum class size is 16.
The following admission criteria will need to be met for consideration for acceptance into the MS in Dietetics program:
- Students must meet at least 1 of the following criteria and provide official transcripts:
- Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences (BSNS) from UTRGV
- Bachelor’s degree from a US Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) program
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university and completion of the following prerequisites.
- Anatomy and Physiology I & II
- General Chemistry I & II
- Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry or Advanced Nutrition and Exercise Metabolism
- Microbiology or Food and Clinical Pathogens
- Statistics or Biostatistics
- Introduction to Clinical Nutrition
- Food Preparation or culinary nutrition
- A formal application through the graduate college
- Two letters of recommendation
- A grade of B or better in all pre-requisites
- Letter of personal intent
All applicants who submit the requisite application materials and meet the admission criteria will be reviewed. Candidates for admission will be required to participate in a virtual (F2F) interview via a video conferencing platform with the admissions committee. Decision letters will go out no later than March 30th of each year.
