Artist Statement
Growing up, I always had a passion for being creative. Whether that was doodling on a piece of paper or adding decorative elements to my projects, art always found its way to me. Art to me means a form of expression. It is something that anybody can do; in a way, anything can be art because that is the beauty of it. While I always saw myself as an artistic person, it wasn’t until the start of my college career that I fully appreciated what art was. Learning about art and architecture in art history fascinated me. I knew that one day, I wanted to see the type of artworks I was learning about in person. This sparked an interest in all things art, and I started becoming more aware of the true definition of being a creative individual. I became exposed to the different types of art, through traditional art, photography, and design.
I enjoy experimenting with everything, especially when it comes to designing. Vibrant colors, the use of bold typography, and visual hierarchy are all things that I like exploring with my projects. I could spend hours looking for the right typeface or inspiration. My style of art stems from my love for the little things in life. I utilize this idea when it comes to working with my artworks. I try to pay attention to the details because I like to think that even the smallest element could make or break a piece. Every day that I can explore my creative side is a learning experience for me. I find myself discovering new ideas and techniques that I can use long-term in my career. Design is a way of connecting with others and portraying a message through visual and type. My art has always been important to me, and I would like to connect with others through my work. I enjoy creating through different forms of media, and I am determined to further expand my knowledge of not only graphic design but art as a whole.
