Work Title: Brain - We Are the Same
Category: Poster Design
Media & Technology: Adobe Illustrator
Institution: Luxun Academy of Fine Arts
Entrant: Xin Jiang (LAFA Student)
Description: As graduates of graphic design, eventually our main objective is simply to popularize the physical structure and scientific function of the human brain. With the help of our design, we try to transform the theoretical knowledge which was boring and intricate, into a form that is interesting and readable, so that it would attract a lot of people’s attention to finally realize our goal – to make them get interested in it and to increase their scientific knowledge. We divide the human brain into six parts: the control center of consciousness, automatic control center, the center of data processing, hippocampus, and the storage center. And through the visual form, we can make it clear to see that indeed, there are some obvious differences between men and women. However it not mean that we can’t become someone that we dream to be. The only thing that we need to do, is to do what we want to do, which we are very good at it, and do not be constrained by others.

Description: The concept originates from the attention to sound. Different sounds will have different feelings and will produce different symbolic waveforms. Klany's experiment is used as the theoretical basis. The biggest contribution of Kranj's experiment lies in the theory of fluctuation of all things, that is, all materials are It is formed by a vibrating waveform that generates sound at the same time. The vibration also requires a medium (material). Therefore, the sound, material, and waveform (symbol) are both vocalized. The homophonic sound is “symbiosis”. It also means that the three are not available under the entire system. Separation, mutual extinction. At the same time, they also map the concept of "symbiosis." This design is a reflection on sounds and hopes to provide a basis for compliance design.

Description: Designing is always tangible which can give an expression of "existence or shapeless". Creating a shape is to enjoy our eyes as well as expressing a perfection is to enjoy our hearts. All we can see are described as: visual, superficial, direct, material; All we can not see are described as: abstract, deep, indirect, spiritual. There is a wonderful intangible world behind the creature and shape that also exist in our heart. These two situations, tangible and intangible, form the concept of cognition and entirety.

Description: Build a face to find a way, seeing me not the same.
Happy may draw my smile, no dimension can show my play.
Dissolving into the void, just turn around and left it all.
The force of time is tempting my mind.
My good friends will miss me no more.
Not evolving or converting, only the reflection for heavenly said.
I’ve found the peace on a lovely day.
Touch by the color of joyful light.
Don’t save for me, for now I’m free.

In the sense that they are the purest materialization of our origins, the indigenous are that part of the Mexican population that has been maintained for centuries in scenic and physical aspect of how is the real Mexico, like Justino Fernández, Mexican Art (2009) said: "When we think of ancient indigenous art we think in a series of art forms diverse that belong to different times and places [...]. They expressed in their cultures their ways of living, of humanizing their world, and created their art works, which are an expression of their conscience, of his life, his vision of the world, physical human and divine [... ]." Craft refers to both the work of the craftsman (usually done manually by a person without the help of machinery or automatization), such as the object or product obtained in the that each piece is different from the others. In Guerrero the festivities are very important, (village festivities) such are the cases like "Day of Saint Santiago", "The Fiesta del Campo" among other festivities. In a traditional way, most Toritos (fireworks bulls) are carried by children and young people, chasing the people present in the event, with hunts, projectiles, sparks and other pyrotechnic fires. The objective of this image is to enhance the importance of Mexican traditions, the emotion that It feels like celebrating each of the festivities, the young people face the fears that are present throughout life. Description: Since pre-hispanic times is attributed to the gods of the mayan, Toltec and Mexica cultures, among others, the ability to take the form of an animal to interact with humans.

Nahual means "what is my robe or skin" and refers to the ability of the Nahual of transforming into a creature half man, half animal like (tecolote, jaguar, eagle, wolf, lizard...) They have been given the name of Nahuales warlocks who can change shape, are believed to seek the benefit for their community, them through their ability to transform, have contact with the spiritual world, thanks to which it finds solutions to many of the problems afflicting those who seek their advice. In the Mexica cosmovision, the Nahuales were protected by Tezcatlipoca, the Lord of the night. They believed that if a man comes to know his primitive spirit or Nahual, then you can use it to heal people and practice magic. Cultural traditions are clear manifestations of how a particular group perceives the world and marks significant moments or transitions of life.

Description: Dua Lipa is an English singer, songwriter and model. Her Musical career began at the age of sixteen. Her music can be described as raw, edgy, bold, energetic, & powerful. I was inspired to emulate that through gritty textures, raw photos, and bold color choices. A key ingredient to her music are her lyrics and their authenticity. Through her music I was inspired to create a photomontage. Her latest song was about a toxic relationship to which I incorporated shattered glass, distressed typeface, & a snake skull.

Category: Typography

Description: This metaphoric work is a reaction to the turmoil I see in the world and a reminder of, if not a call to, unity. I see fighting, posturing, and blaming between cultural 'tribes'. This exists on levels that range from the personal to the political. The line of these letterforms connect up with each other allowing for the text to create a physical connection from letter to letter, from phrase to phrase, indeed from language to language. The letters are holding hands and if one were to unravel the others would surely follow. The constant interplay between word and image has yielded especially fertile ground for my research and serves as the common thread connecting all my creative activity. My ambitions as a communicator are to reconsider the conventions through which we experience texts and images by way of exploring the simultaneously independent and interdependent nature of their relationship.

In the depths, an ancient dungeon adorned with treasures is waiting for any hero who dare braves the gauntlets of old. Monstrous creatures roam the halls protecting the loot they have hidden away from the world. Many heroes who have attempted the challenge and failed become prisoners; heroes must collect gems to earn their freedom." Every year at the University of Texas at Arlington the Art and Art History department offers the SEED summer workshop for a select group of high school students chosen from the surrounding Dallas-Fort Worth area. Students learn the creative process and techniques required to craft a work of art during an intense two week period. In the Summer, SEED students learned about game development and design by creating their very own mobile game titled Hobblestone. Hobblestone is a homage to the viral mobile game Crossy Roads. The basic template of the game was decided ahead of time in order to make the process more manageable and enjoyable for the students. Students sketched character and environmental concepts, built and textured three dimensional models, and composed the music. Free to play on Google Play and iTunes.
