The Department of Physics and Astronomy mission is to pursue excellence in research and education across Physics and Astronomy, including multi-disciplinary areas, in a diverse, inclusive, and nurturing environment with emphasis on transformative impact on traditionally underrepresented minorities, and to serve the community, the profession, and the society at large through dissemination of scientific knowledge and promotion of scientific literacy.

The School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences mission is to provide students a unique integrative education and training experience that prepares them to meet the challenges and opportunities in the multiple dimensions of contemporary earth, environmental, and marine sciences.

The SIBCS provides a dynamic learning environment where students can delve into the convergence of biology and chemistry, offering interdisciplinary courses and research programs to foster a holistic understanding of these interconnected fields.

The School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences supports the College of Sciences and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley by committing to excellence in advancing student performance, promoting scholarly accomplishment, and providing professional and community service.
