Department Mission Statement

The Institutional Compliance Office at UT Rio Grande Valley serves faculty, staff, and students by supporting a culture of compliance and ethical conduct through an ongoing commitment to integrity, accountability, transparency, and respect in all actions and decisions.

Departmental Purpose:

The Institutional Compliance program has two primary goals:

  1. To assure that all faculty and staff are aware of their respective duties and responsibilities in establishing and sustaining an ethical and compliant environment and a “do the right thing” culture; and
  2. To provide a mechanism for continuously assessing the effectiveness of compliance activities and for addressing identified issues in a proactive and timely manner.

The UTRGV Compliance Program demonstrates the University’s commitment to ethical conduct and compliance by setting forth guidelines for conduct designed to:

  1. Encourage compliance by providing support, training and educational resources;
  2. Uphold standards of conduct and comply with University policies; and
  3. Prevent, identify and correct violations.
