Who We Are

Leadership that counts!

Enhance your skills for a leadership position in accounting: Apply for our accredited and innovative MACC program today. The program will help prepare you for an executive level accounting career in today’s competitive environment that requires a heightened demand for up-to-date accounting knowledge, communication, and analytical skills.

The Master of Accountancy (MACC) degree at UTRGV offers an affordable, high quality education from an AACSB International accredited institution where graduates are heavily recruited by small and large organizations including;

  • Big 4 accounting firms
  • Government Accountability Office
  • State Comptroller
  • The FDIC

among other local, national and international organizations.

Coming in the fall: the MACC program will be offered in a completely online accelerated format with five enrollment periods each year as well as the traditional face-to-face format. Either way, as a full time student you could complete your MACC degree in one year.

Why choose the MACC?

  • Acquire skills to compete and succeed in leadership positions
  • Expand career opportunities that may lead to executive level positions including CFO, CEO and board chair;
  • Contributes to meeting CPA requirement;
  • Average salaries for graduates with a master’s degree in accounting are $67,409, more than 15% higher than undergraduate degrees in accounting (2015-2017 College Salary Report, payscale.com)
  • In 2016, 31% of new hires by CPA firms held a master’s degree (AICPA 2017 Trends)
  • In 2016, 74% of new hires with master’s degree held a master’s degree in accounting
  • Job outlook is great—The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 10% growth rate of accountants and auditors from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average
