About Us
Welcome to the Center of the Borderlands (previously the Center for Mexican American Studies) at UTRGV!
Our mission is to celebrate and build upon the Rio Grande Valley's rich history and distinct population to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for this region’s heritage.
At Borderlands, we are dedicated to serving our community through various initiatives that highlight the stories and contributions of Mexican Americans and the people of the RGV borderlands. We believe in the power of education and community experience to bridge gaps and create a more engaged society. Our programs and events are designed to engage students, faculty, and community members in meaningful dialogue and collaboration.
Through our work, we aim to create a vibrant environment where everyone can thrive.
Join us in our efforts to honor our past, enrich our present, and inspire our future. Feel free to reach out to us for more information or to get involved in our programs and events. Together, we can make a difference!
