Sonia Elizondo
Mrs. Sonia Elizondo possesses an extensive 17-year background in accounting, financial analysis, fiscal operations, strategic planning, and grant administration. Since 2000, she has held various accounting-related positions within institutions of higher education. Among her previous roles, she worked as an Accountant for South Texas College in the Center for Advanced Training and Apprenticeships (CATA) Department.
In 2019, Mrs. Elizondo joined the Office of the Provost at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where she currently serves as a Financial Analyst. In this role, she performs in-depth financial analyses, maintains accurate accounting records, and prepares comprehensive financial reports. She also collaborates closely with ten direct-reporting administrators within the Office of the Provost, serving as both a reconciler and financial liaison to support strategic decision-making and ensure fiscal accountability.
Her educational background includes studies in Accounting, Technology Management, and Business Administration. Mrs. Elizondo is a proud two-time graduate of South Texas College, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Technology Management in 2008 and an Associate degree in Business Administration Supervision in 2000. Prior to fully launching her professional career, she dedicated nearly six years to the UTRGV Office of Workforce & Economic Development, gaining valuable experience in institutional operations and community engagement.
