Our Team

Mr. Eduardo Gutierrez brings over 15 years of experience in higher education accounting and financial management. He began his career in 2009 within the Division of Business Affairs at The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB). Following the establishment of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) in 2015, Mr. Gutierrez transitioned to the Division of Academic Affairs, where he has held several key administrative roles. His past positions include Assistant Dean of Administration and Director for the College of Health Professions, the School of Nursing, and the School of Social Work.  

In 2021, Mr. Gutierrez transitioned to the Office of the Provost at UTRGV, where he currently serves as Assistant Vice Provost for Finance. In this capacity, he acts as the financial matters expert for the Provost and all his direct reports. He collaborates with the institution's financial division, as well as each academic college and unit that reports directly to the provost. 

Mr. Gutierrez holds an academic background in Finance and Administration. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2011 from The University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB), a legacy institution of UTRGV. He completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) in 2005, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Finance and a minor in Marketing.
