Upward Bound Math and Science Program provides services in Brownsville and Edinburg Campuses.
Cameron County Schools
The Upward Bound Math and Science Brownsville projects serve the students of the following Cameron County schools:
- Harlingen High School
- Harlingen South High School
- San Benito High School
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS) (Brownsville) is designed to provide services to 67 eligible secondary school students. The program will enable students to gain the academic skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school. The UTRGV UBMS Program Brownsville is designed to operate with the following components: Academic Year Instruction and Enrichment Component; Summer Component; and Bridge Component. Component activities are designed to better prepare participants for state mandated exams, the SAT, ACT and the TSI college entry exams; increase the number of college hours earned and increase high school completion, postsecondary enrollment and completion.

Hidalgo County Schools
The Upward Bound Math and Science Edinburg Program serves the students of the following Hidalgo County schools:
- Donna High School
- Weslaco High School
- Weslaco East High School
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Upward Bound Math and Science Program (UBMS) (Edinburg) is designed to provide services to 63 eligible secondary school students. The program will enable students to gain the academic skills and motivation necessary for success in education beyond high school in the areas of math, science and engineering. The UTRGV UBMS Program Edinburg Program is designed to provide the following services:
- Academic Counseling and Advisement
- Summer programs with emphasis on STEM research
- College Admission Preparation, Summer Academic
- Enhancement Classes and College/Educational Field Trips
- Summer Residential Component
- Financial and Economic Literacy sessions
- Cultural and Personal Enrichment Activities
