Who We Are Now

The TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science programs at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley serve approximately 130 students in grades 9th-12th from 6 different high schools including: Donna, Weslaco East, Weslaco, Harlingen South, Harlingen High and San Benito High Schools. The Upward Bound Math and Science program is designed to strengthen the Math and Science skills of participating students. The goal of the program is to help students recognize and develop their potential to excel in math and science and to encourage them to pursue postsecondary degrees in math and science, and ultimately careers in the math and science profession.  Upward Bound Math and Science serves: high school students from low-income families; and/or high school students from families in which neither parent holds a bachelor's degree.

Each year, our program is accountable for meeting specific performance outcomes. This helps guarantee our students success!
