Who We Are Now

The Mission of the UTRGV Department of Theatre is to:

  • Provide the student artists in the program with the education and the tools in the classroom, studios and in production to allow them to cultivate, refine, and unleash the full range of their creativity and skills to convey their vision and intent to an audience in any media.
  • Enable the students, faculty and staff of the department and the University to share this work with the public through performances, screenings and festivals.
  • Recognize the value of a broad liberal arts education in the creation of a well-rounded practitioner in the theatre field so as to equip students to make positive cultural contributions as educators, professionals, and graduate students.
