Don Palermo Memorial Golf Tournament
Join us for an early morning start at the South Padre Island Golf Club where sunsets have to be seen rather than described, where the third green looking east over The Laguna Madre Bay must be felt, not featured. South Padre Island Golf Club can only be celebrated first hand, through sight and sound and smell. Around every bend, after every hole at South Padre Island Golf Club, you will find reasons our golf course is one of the finest in the Rio Grande Valley. Enveloped by nature, the course at South Padre Island Golf Club is truly an oasis. So dust of those hideous outfits, polish those clubs for the “Dead-Ass Last” trophy awaits. Unfortunately, we won’t have any awards for funniest golf outfit but we’ll be sure to crown our champs!
Fred Russell Pre-Conference Strategic Enrollment Management Workshop
Join Dr. Tom Green of AACRAO for a practical look at how colleges and universities organize for, develop and implement strategic enrollment management (SEM) plans. The workshop will briefly cover SEM Core Concepts but most of the workshop will be a practical guide. The session will look at how to achieve and sustain campus-wide buy-in from faculty, staff, administration and leadership, the critical role of data and research in SEM planning, how to pivot from planning to implementation and the role of monitoring and reporting in achieving sustainable enrollment outcomes. The workshop will walk through the process of building a SEM plan, looking through the lens of a completed plans’ table of contents. Each section of the plan and how that is built will be presented and discussed.
Applications for the Fred Russell SEM Newcomer Scholarship are now being accepted. Deadline for all applications is 5 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2017. The application and information sheet can be found here.

TACRAO Fun Run
Mark this item off your Texas Bucket list! Sign up for a nice afternoon walk/run on the South Padre Island beach! We’ll have an afternoon start so no need to wake up too early. When you start and as you prepare to finish, you’ll forget that you even broke a sweat. The sand and surf are stunning and this will make your walk/run full of fun in the sun. So walk barefoot, with sandals, or strap’em up for a first place finish. Whatever your level of running is, it doesn’t matter, the beach awaits!

Grab your sunscreen and shades, and head to the beach to join us for the TACRAO Surf and Sand Faceoff. Teams will compete to defend their region while having fun in the sun!

If you are a bit of a bedroom Beyoncé or a kitchen Kanye, come let out your inner superstar and grab some sweet treats at the karaoke night and dessert bar.
