La Joya Independent School District (LJ ISD)

The La Joya Independent School District, located in the western portion of Hidalgo County consist of more than 226 square miles stretching west of Mission to Sullivan City, including the smaller communities of La Joya, Palmview and Peñitas. Boundaries extend South from the United States border formed by the Rio Grande River to the 13-mile line near McCook to the North.

The La Joya schools participating in our project are as follows, all elementaries: Diaz Villareal, Dr. Palmira Mendiola, Emiliano Zapata, EB Reyna, Evangelina Garza, Enrique Kiki Camarena, Guillermo Flores, Jose de Escandon, Juan Seguin, Narciso Cavazos, Patricio Perez, Sam Fordyce, Tabasco, and William Clinton.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD)

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District has rapidly become a state and national leader in creating more academic opportunities for all students. As a tri-city public school district offering a pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade curriculum, PSJA caters to a 32,000-student body and is focused on graduating all students College Ready, College Connected and College Complete.

UTRGV Department of Health and Human Performance, College of Health Professions

Our fields of Exercise Science, Health and Kinesiology play an integral part in the total educational process and wellbeing for all subsets of our population from infants to the elderly. One of the most important responsibilities we face in our profession is to instill in each child and adult, the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, which includes the participation in lifetime sports and fitness activities. This can be accomplished by providing sound programs in Exercise Science, Health, and Kinesiology based on quality instruction, best teaching practices, and the application of current research. To that end, the Department of Health and Human Performance at UTRGV strives to provide you with the training and educational background needed to become a highly skilled and knowledgeable exercise science specialist, health educator, and/or physical educator.

The College of Health Professions will be the leading institution of excellence in health and human services, education, health care and research, producing highly skilled practitioners, educators, and researchers through high quality educational programs, meaningful experiential learning opportunities and the development of scientific and intellectual inquiry for the promotion of health equity in the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.
