The Logic of our QEP

We have to know more about our students.

  • Institutional Goal #1: Develop data literacy of advising staff so that they are able to access and make sense of relevant student success data to plan more effective, strategic, and proactive interventions for 1st year students.

Once we know more about their needs, we can differentiate the advising experience for each sub-pop.

  • Institutional Goal #2: Develop a differentiated advising curriculum and outreach for specific subpopulations of 1st year students.
    • Content of advising sessions
    • # and timing of outreach
    • Modality of outreach

Advisors cannot and should not do this alone

  • Institution Goal #3: Develop shared responsibility among faculty and staff across units for student success.

We need a network of support for students.

  • Faculty and advisors in mutually reinforcing feedback loop, co-designing strategies and interventions.
  • Strong relationships with campus partners to identify and remove student success barriers through policy and process review and revision.
