Pathways
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is committed to supporting students on their Path2UTRGV.
South Texas College (STC) and UTRGV are working together to develop pathways that support your success. From the admission process to course and credit alignment, to degree completion — we’re here to ensure that you graduate with your bachelor's degree.
STC2UTRGV Joint Admission Agreement
STC and UTRGV have partnered to eliminate the need to complete multiple applications.
How does it work?
The STC2UTRGV Joint Admission Agreement provides you with the opportunity to apply once in your Senior year, utilizing the ApplyTexas Application.
Applying to STC?
Students who apply to STC as incoming freshmen will acknowledge participation in the program on their ApplyTexas Application.
Make sure to select “yes” if you are interested in participating in the STC2UTRGV Admission Program.
When can I transfer to UTRGV if I applied to STC?
Students who apply to STC and select to participate in STC2UTRGV begin their collegiate career at STC.
Students following this path are encouraged to complete their associate degree and transfer to UTRGV the following term (students are eligible to transfer after the completion of 30 hours and with a 2.0 GPA or higher).
When can I transfer to UTRGV if they offer me joint admission?
Students who apply to UTRGV and are offered joint admission, are encouraged to transfer at the completion of 30 hours with a minimum 2.0 GPA (they may elect to stay at STC and complete their associate degree).
What if I transfer before I complete my associate degree?
UTRGV and STC work closely together through a Reverse Articulation process to support students working toward a bachelor's degree — which means that all credits from STC will transfer to UTRGV.
