Regional Nonprofit Organizations
Community engagement partnerships at UTRGV span the Rio Grande Valley through teaching, learning, research, and service with internal and external partners. Internally, initiatives such as the Engagement Zone, support for student-athlete service, faculty engagement, and experiential learning connect students, faculty, staff, and community partners. Externally, UTRGV maintains reciprocal partnerships in health, education, economic development, public safety, and the arts to address community needs. In 2026, UTRGV retained the prestigious Carnegie Community Engagement Classification designation for our collaborative community service. This designation is a rigorous, elective, evidence-based documentation process for self-assessment and quality improvement purposes. It allows universities to demonstrate their commitment to the communities they serve and to share good practice in the sector. It is the leading framework for institutional assessment and recognition of community engagement in US higher education. UTRGV was first awarded the designation in 2020.

The Nonprofit Resource Center is proud to collaborate with the Association of Fundraising Professionals–TX Coastal Bend to offer learning and networking opportunities for professional fundraisers in the Rio Grande Valley.
