RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – OCT. 2, 2025 – Starting this Friday, The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley invites students and community members to wear and display orange, creating a vibrant wave of support for our Vaqueros across the Rio Grande Valley.

This new initiative encourages everyone, students, faculty, staff and the community, to don their best orange attire every Friday, fostering school spirit and pride.

“Wearing orange is more than just a color; it’s a symbol of our unity and pride as a university community. It represents our collective spirit and support for our students and student-athletes. I encourage everyone to join us in this initiative and let’s show our UTRGV pride,” UTRGV President Guy Bailey said.

WEAR YOUR ORANGE

Everyone is invited to show their style in orange, whether it’s a T-shirt, hoodie, hat or accessories.

How to show your orange:

  • On campus: Join fellow students and staff by sporting orange and participating in events celebrating UTRGV spirit.
  • At home: Decorate with orange banners, balloons or lights, and encourage family and friends to wear orange.
  • In the office: Encourage colleagues to wear orange and create a vibrant atmosphere.
  • Social media: Share your orange outfits using #GetYourOrangeOn for a chance to be featured on official channels.

BE PART OF THE NEW TRADITION

Join the university every Friday by wearing and displaying your orange with pride and showcasing what UTRGV represents to the Rio Grande Valley and beyond.
