RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – OCT. 2, 2025 – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is celebrating its 10th anniversary with another historic achievement: surpassing $300 million in total fundraising for the first time.

UTRGV surpasses $300 million in fundraising this 10th anniversary year.
UTRGV marks a decade of philanthropy with $302.8 million raised, a $218.5 million endowment and a record $309,000 on Day of Giving.

Originally, UTRGV President Guy Bailey set a goal of reaching $250 million within a decade. As has been the case in many areas over the past 10 years, the university exceeded that target, reflecting its momentum and the community’s confidence in its mission.

“This achievement is a testament to the belief our community has in the mission of UTRGV,” Bailey said. “Every dollar raised fuels the dreams of our students, strengthens the success of our faculty and advances the progress of our region — setting the stage for an even greater decade ahead.”

Rather than slowing down, UTRGV’s momentum continues to accelerate:

  • A decade of sustained philanthropy: Since 2015, UTRGV has raised $302.8 million, including $35.6 million contributed to the last academic year.
  • Endowment surpasses $200M for the first time: UTRGV’s total endowment now stands at $218.5 million, marking a major milestone in student support.
  • A landmark Day of Giving: On August 26, UTRGV donors contributed more than $309,000, the largest total ever recorded for the event.

Bailey credited the university’s rapid rise to a “shared belief that the Rio Grande Valley deserves a world-class institution.”

Executive Vice President for Institutional Advancement Dr. Kelly Nassour said that this  milestone is more than a number — it’s a promise.

“This level of support shows that our donors aren’t just making gifts — they’re making history,” Nassour said. “They’re helping build the kind of university that transforms lives not only today, but for generations to come.”
