EDINBURG, TEXAS – The UTRGV College of Sciences, the Astrobiochemistry Lab, and the Center of Excellence in STEM Education (C-STEM) will host a public talk regarding meteorites, titled “From the Stars to Your Backyard: Meteorites Impacting the Rio Grande Valley.”

The presentation will be 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Monday, March 27, in the engineering building, Room EENGR 1.300, on the UTRGV Edinburg Campus.

The speakers are Dr. Juan Gonzalez, professor in the UTRGV School of Earth, Environmental and Marine Sciences, and Dr. Eloi Camprubi-Casas, assistant professor of Biology and Chemistry.

Students, staff, faculty and the general public are invited to attend and learn about the formation and future of the solar system, the age and early history of Earth, and how meteorites are formed, detected, collected and studied.

Meteorite samples will be on display.

Audience members will be able to take part in a Q&A session with the speakers.

ABOUT UTRGV

The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas.
