The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ranks third among public universities in Texas that provide the best value, according to the Best Colleges for Your Money 2019 rankings released by Money.com.
The prestigious online magazine generated its rankings based on various data points, including graduation rates, tuition and fees, net price, family borrowing and career earnings, in three categories: quality of education, affordability and outcomes.
UTRGV ranked 193rd overall among the 744 institutions listed nationwide. Among public universities in Texas, UTRGV ranked behind only Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin, respectively.
“This is another incredible accolade that reveals UTRGV’s potential to transform the lives of our students,” said UTRGV President Guy Bailey. “We’ve always taken pride in being one of the best at providing a high-quality education at an affordable price, and this ranking helps prove that we continue to succeed in that mission.”
UTRGV ranked first among Texas institutions in several other categories released by the Best Colleges for Your Money rankings:
- ·UTRGV ranked 1st in Texas and 19th nationally with a 2019-20 price of attendance without financial aid of $20,900.
- UTRGV ranked 1st in Texas and 4th nationally with a 2019-20 price of attendance with average grants of $4,400.

Lastly, UTRGV ranked 1st in Texas and 8th nationally with an average student debt of $10,050.
