Organizations
UTRGV MSA has various organizations of which students can participate throughout the academic year. We encourage MSA students to join any organization of their interest to be involved and connect with their classmates on campus.
Student Council
Since 1931, the goal of National Student Council (NatStuCo) has been to help all student councils become more effective organizations. NatStuCo represents middle level and high school councils nationwide. It seeks to provide a valuable leadership partnership between students and their school. It creates the opportunity for students to become effective leaders, thus encouraging and influencing a positive school climate.
National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS recognizes those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.
Chess Team
The UTRGV Mathematics and Science Academy Chess Club was formed as a cooperation between the UTRGV Mathematics and Science Academy and the UTRGV Chess Program, from the initiative of the Dean of the College of Sciences, Dr. Parwinder Grewal. The 2018/19 academic year served as a preparatory one. The team started to compete in tournaments in the 2019/20 academic year. In the Spring 2021 semester, MSA students finished second in the Texas High School Championship, and placed in the Top 10 in team standings in the nationwide championship. Even though it was hard to dream of even better results, the MSA students trained hard and in the Fall 2021 semester succeeded in winning the Texas High School Championship for 12th graders, whereas in the US National High School Championship for 12th graders the team finished third.
The team trains virtually with Grandmaster Bartek Macieja on weekly basis.

Book Club
The UTRGV MSA Book Club allows our students to join as a community to promote their love of literature. The students read, learn, discuss, and engage with the type of books interest them the most. The MSA Book Club collabrate together, on campus and online, to plan for virtual events, community service, and celebrations.
Author's Corner
Authors' Corner, an MSA-based creative writing group, encourages all MSA students, with the propensity to create short stories between 500-1,000 words ( about the length of a composition), to achieve the ultimate goal of publishing their works in The Rider, our official student newspaper at UTRGV. Comprised of MSA students and mentor Professor Frazier, one-to-one mentorship and biweekly, Zoom group meetings are scheduled during the semester to discuss, peer-critique, and improve creative writing techniques to enhance writing abilities and increase opportunities for publications that may open doors of opportunity in students' lives and contribute to student academic success.

UTRGV MSA Ambassadors
MSA Ambassadors are representatives of the Academy who assist with welcoming prospective students and their families to campus and assist our staff at events for students; New Student Orientation, Informational Sessions, Welcome Back Bash, School Events, Campus Tours and more. MSA Ambassadors help educate visitors about the campus life, history, achievements, and share their journey through MSA.
MSA Sustainability Ambassadors
The Sustainability Ambassadors are divided into groups and are tasked with researching data on various companies, businesses, and non-profil organizations that help contribute and support the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
